Giorno che vale di tanti anni il pianto. (A day which validates the complaint of so many years). In the field: A Liberty cap, beneath which: Liberta romana, xxvii piovoso an vii (Roman liberty, 27 piovoso). Below, between two stars, TM (Tommaso Mercandetti.
R. In the field an eagle, its wings spread, inside an oak wreath, perched on a fasces which is placed horizontally on an altar. On a banner: Rep. (Republica) romana (Roman Republic). The front of the altar is decorated with the Libery cap between two daggers (the type of the ancient coins of Brutus) of which one is hidden under drapery. Behind the altar, two flags; on the left hand one: R. f. (French Republic), and on the one on the right, Repubblic. romana (Roman Republic).-- On the base of the altar: T. M. (Tommaso Mercandetti).
